XLP80
Extreme Low-Profile
Skidding System
The XLP80 features a 1.25″ (32 mm) system height, is fully hand-portable, and delivers up to 80 tons of controlled skidding capacity in the most confined and clearance-restricted environments. It uses the same proven low-friction track and push-pull head design as larger Hydra-Slide systems, but with a lighter cylinder set and smaller footprint for faster mobilization and lower total cost.

How does the XLP80 move a load?
The XLP80 uses a push/pull hydraulic cylinder to move the load along UHMW-lined track sections. The load sits on slider plates that reduce friction and keep movement controlled and guided. As the cylinder extends, it pushes the slider plate and load forward; as it retracts, it automatically resets to take another stroke, allowing incremental, precise movement in very tight spaces guided by the track. *No cranes or forklifts are required to position the system.
What makes the XLP80 different from other Hydra-Slide systems?
The XLP80 provides 80 tons of controlled skidding capacity at just 1.25″ system height, making it ideal for mezzanines, mechanical rooms, utility corridors, and elevated floors with limited access. It uses the same proven track and pusher mechanism as larger systems, but it is lighter, faster to deploy, and completely hand-portable, making it well-suited for shutdowns and change-outs where time and space are restricted.
When I order an XLP80 skidding system, what is included?
Every XLP80 ships in a steel storage box as a complete, ready-to-use system, including:
- Modular steel track sections
- Slider plates
- Push/pull head and hydraulic cylinders
- Stamped, engineered assembly drawings
Training and field support are also available to ensure your crew is confident in setup and safe operation.
Frequently Used Together
TT150 Turntable
Our engineered Turntables are extremely simple and low-maintenance, and they solve a big problem: rotating any heavy or oversized load accurately and efficiently, even in areas of restricted access or clearance. Ideal for rotating items such as transformers or generators during handling and installation, they incorporate a reversible, hydraulically powered rotating mechanism for precise control.
Conventional Power Units
These single-circuit, cart-mounted power units are suitable for the operation of all Hydra-Slide skidding systems, turntables, and alignment shoes, as well as most double-acting jacking applications. They are suitable in applications that do not require synchronized flow rates.
Aluminum Support Beams
Engineered lightweight aluminum beams provide enhanced support and gap-spanning capability for Hydra-Slide XLP150 and LP350 skidding systems.

The XLP150 presented a myriad of safety and productivity advantages."
Edwards Moving & Rigging used their XLP150 skidding system to remove and replace small transformers inside a high-security power plant in the southeastern US. The work site presented numerous challenges—low headroom, a confined workspace, and no forklift access—making the hand-portable and compact XLP150 an ideal solution.
